Dust Sets Off Alarm At Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital - Monday, April 25, 2011
Scottsdale Fire Department and Scottsdale PD responded Monday afternoon to a structure fire call at Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital (Osborn) in the 7400 block of east Osborn Road [Map] in Scottsdale, Arizona. The report of a fire alarm sounding call came in to the department at around 2:50 PM.
Scottsdale fire spokeswoman Tiffani Nichols tells Scottsdale Arizona News that fire crews found haze/smoke inside and are checking for the source of the fire. No injuries reported. Some evacuations in progress.
Update 3:20 PM: Nichols says majority of units have been recalled. Fire alarms have been reset. Dust in the area may have set off the fire alarms.... No injuries reported.
Update 3:33 PM: Nichols says the "haze and smoke" source was confirmed to be dust from exterior concrete work that came in through a third floor vent. Three rooms with patients were evacuated on the third floor initially as a precaution. The hospital should be returning to full operation shortly.

Scott MacIntyre To Perform Easter Sunday at Scottsdale Bible Church
American Idol finalist Scott MacIntyre will perform at Scottsdale Bible Church on Easter morning, Sunday April 24, 2011, according to a Tweet earlier today.
MacIntyre says he will be performing at all morning services with choir, orchestra, band and dancers. 10,000 people are expected to attend the event.

DPS Barbecue And Raffle For Special Olympics Thursday, April, 21, 2011
DPS hosts its ninth annual Barbeque and Raffle for Champions, in support of the Special Olympics
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Ninth Annual Barbeque and Raffle is being held at the DPS Headquarters in support of the Special Olympics, Thursday, April, 21, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
El Toro BBQ is providing the food. All proceeds benefit the Special Olympics.
On display will be the DPS air rescue helicopter and crew, SWAT team, K-9 officers and dogs, motorcycle officers, bomb squad, and much more.
The BBQ event is located in the north parking lot of the DPS Headquarters at 2102 W. Encanto Blvd Phoenix, Arizona 85009 [Map]. Parking is available to the east and west of the headquarters with shuttles assisting with transporting individuals from the parking lots to the event.

Alice Cooper Busted For Speeding Again

Alice Cooper was ticketed last month for speeding, Scottsdale Arizona News has learned.
The 63-year-old rock star has been busted for speeding twice in the last two years -- and both times he was caught by photo radar cameras on Pima Rd.
Alice Damon Cooper, of Paradise Valley, has been accused of speeding 56 mph in a 45 mph zone on March 31, 2011 at 6:46 a.m. at Northbound Pima Road at East Hualapai Drive, according to court records.
Cooper has been summoned to appear, pay the fine amount of $195, enroll in a defensive driving school, if eligible, or request a hearing on or before 5/6/2011 at the Scottsdale City Court.

Northbound I-17 Closed Between Sedona Turnoff and Flagstaff
Northbound Interstate 17 is closed between the Sedona Turnoff (State Route 179) and Flagstaff this afternoon due to winter weather conditions, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Drivers with plans to use northbound I-17 to Flagstaff are encouraged to delay their travel until conditions improve and the highway can be reopened. ADOT snowplow crews are working this afternoon to clear snow and ice from I-17 and I-40 in northern Arizona.
